Consumables and Hard Mode Missions
I had been browsing through some hard mode services listed on the services forum and I see repeatedly that they require the use of consumables. I also hear that everyone swears by consumables for hard mode missions. My question is this: If I do need to use some consumables for hard mode missions, which missions require which consumables and which require no consumables at all?
Im sure that all missions are possible without any consumables but I wonder which ones I can use to make the missions more user friendly without going overboard. When I say consumables I mean Grail of Might, Armor of Salvation and Essence of Celerity. |

Consumables.... of questionable benefit, imo.
+100hp is great, but when i'm never dropping below 600 anyway, what is the point? Sure DOA is made easier, but DOA in NM is pretty mental. Anyone "requiring" their use is likely to want them all. |

Consumables for for people who suck at PvE. You can do all the missions without them. They do make things easier, of course, but if you actually want to get better (which is the whole point of the game), then don't use them.

Yea, those "Service" offers do make me chuckle when I see them.
Whats the point of a service if the buyer has to supply the items to make it possible? I mean... how many professional mechanics do you know who require you to bring car parts or a wrench so he can service your car? Any and all HM missions can be done without consumables.... some just make it slightly easier (essence of celerity for example). But others are just useless (Whats the point of +100HP if as stated above if yoru health never dips under 100HP). |

I use consumables for speed, but without them we do fine, too. I know by now that I'm decent enough at the game that I don't need to prove to myself that I can vanquish X zone in X time without consumables. I'd rather just get it the hell over with.

The ONLY reason to use consumables is if you really want to steam roll a mission. If you have 3 or more real players they are completely un-necessary.
Last night I vanquished Grothmar Wardowns and did Arachni's Haunt in HM. We used 1 set in each just to speed up game play with 3 people. |

Note I didnt say Consumables are bad. I dont really use them myself. My point was that if you are offerign a service and expect payment in platinum, then you should at least include the materials you need for the run, or increase the price so you can afford to buy them again afterwards.
Requiring customers to provide the materials for a service you provide is pretty bad business in real life. You can lower the price o fthe run my the price of the materials if someone brings them, but other than that you should be prepared for what you offer. |

Consumables in Elite areas = FTW
Consumables in Basic PvE = FTL plus they're about 2k ea, so not good for everyday use.. |
